TRANSFORMATION

15, 16, 17 & 18 December 2016

 

The Bhawanipur Education Society College organised UMANG 2016, the most awaited college fest of the city, from the 15th to 18th December 2016. The theme of the fest was- ‘Transformation’. There was participation from 43 different colleges across the east with participant count of over 2200 students.
Prof. Dilip Shah, the Dean of Student Affairs gave the inaugural address followed by an inspiring speech from Dr. Suman K Mukerjee, Director General of the college. The inaugural ceremony was followed by a spectacular classical dance performance by the students at the College.
Following which the representatives of the different participating Colleges were called on stage and the Opening ceremony left everyone excited at the prospect of witnessing all the 60 events that were to unfold in the coming days.

On Day2 of the fest, the event featured a power packed band performance by SAM’s in-house fusion band ‘Eternal Bliss’. The grooving original compositions of the band were a big hit among the young students. Ingrained within the meaningful lyrics of each song was a deep social message. Prof. Dilip Shah appreciated SAM’s cause of youth transformation and the creative and inventive tools used to inspire with the young masses towards nation building.

Day-4 of the fest was a surprise package with the arrival of the famous comedian, actor Sunil Grover, entertaining the audience with his signature song, ‘Aap aye hain’, which he usually sings when he is in the character of ‘Gutthi”.

“Sheila! Sheila! Sheila!” roared the audience as the star performer, singer Sunidhi Chauhan entered the stage for the closing night. In her 60-minute set, the Bollywood singer went from old-time hits like I am a disco dancer, Bhumro bhumro and Koi yahaan aha nache nache to newer blockbusters like Dance pe chance marle, Te amo and My desi girl. But the queen of item numbers got the 4,000-strong audience grooving the most to Sheila ki jawaani and crowned the show with some moves from Beedi jalaile. 
The Closing ceremony awarded the Best Managing Team Representatives and the overall Winners of the fest. The four-day fest ended with concluding remarks from Prof. Dilip Shah capturing the essence of all that Umang stands for and left a lasting impression on the minds of all present.
